Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take last minute bookings?
We do! Please call us on 01245 231800 and we would be more than happy to assist you.
Is there parking available - and how much?
The Room in the Rodings has a large gravel car park and a field which can also be used. Cars can be left over night as long as they are collected by 10.30am the next day.
Can I use an outside caterer?
The Room in the Rodings allows you to bring in any supplier of your choice, including caterers. We have a Preferred Catering Supplier List, however, if you have a favourite caterer in mind, you can use them for your special occasion (there will just be an additional refundable deposit to pay).
Does the venue have disabled access - including disabled bathroom facilities?
We do. The venue is all at ground level internally and there’s an disabled toilet.
What is the venue’s capacity?
60 seated in the ceremony room (more accommodated with combination of seated and standing guests); 100 seated for the meal; 150 standing/evening.
What facilities do you have in the kitchen?
Our Kitchen is a fully equipped catering kitchen (caterers will be required to bring their own refrigeration for food and must take all food waste away after service).
We provide fridges for your drinks, if required.
Are all the outside spaces included in the venue hire price?
Yes our beautiful meadow and fenced lawn and quaint decked courtyard area are all yours for the day.
How do we book a Registrar for our ceremony?
You need to contact Essex Registration Services.
What does ‘no corkage’ mean?
We allow you to bring in all your own wine and soft drinks for your reception and wedding breakfast and we don’t charge you to do so. We run a fully staffed bar which opens for welcome drinks and during the reception as well as for the evening party.
Is there a Wedding Coordinator / Event Contact?
For both weddings and events, you will be fully supported by our experienced team and can contact the office at any time for assistance with planning and questions about your day. Nearer the date of your wedding or event, we will be in touch with you to confirm timings and details for the day. For weddings, we will arrange an appointment a few days prior to the wedding to go through the ceremony procedure and discuss the day in full. Your coordinator will be at the venue on the day to oversee the smooth running of the ceremony and reception; moving guests to the appropriate areas as required.
What happens if we have to cancel our date?
It is a shame when any wedding is cancelled. If a new date can’t be found then we will release your date but the deposit paid is non-refundable. If you want to postpone your date, your deposit can be transferred to a new date.
